The House With The Orange Door
Tucked under a canopy of fall leaves, the house with the orange door beckons you in. The enclosed porch gives you space to wipe the dog’s paws, park the bike, or just decompress. Enter into the warmth of the living room, a cozy spot to watch movies, entertain, or curl up with a book. The stairs of this charming century semi are a natural divide from the fabulous kitchen, with butcher block counters & island, subway tile, & stainless steel everything. Another sun-filled room can be the space of your dreams: Family room? Den? Dining room? Upstairs is a roomy primary with an east-facing window boasting sunrises & greenery, and a second bedroom with views of your backyard oasis. Fully-fenced, interlocking brick patio, gas line for BBQ, and a gorgeous deep lot. With Greenwood Park & Leslieville’s Farmers Market on one end of the street and the popular Betty’s East patio, bakeries, and breweries on the other, this sweet house on one of Leslieville’s best streets welcomes you home.
A Note From The Sellers
We have spent almost a decade here at 26 Alton and have loved our time in this wonderful home. The neighbourhood is a dream, with warm community vibes, the best neighbours, and incredible bakeries (spinach pies and cinnamon buns at Sweet Bliss are a must), breweries (Left Field, Black Lab, Rorschach, Godspeed, Avling to name just a few), and restaurants (Jules Bistro for incredible french food, Pasaj or Maha’s for brunch, and Betty’s for their legendary patio and Deep Six dip) at our doorstep. Walking the dogs to Greenwood Park to visit the Leslieville Farmers’ Market each Sunday is a favourite activity we’ll definitely miss when we leave. Having the Queen streetcar steps away is a huge plus as well, but Alton Avenue is a cute and quiet little street, giving our address small town vibes with all the advantages of the big city. There is so much we will miss about this house, starting with the cozy mudroom which is essential for getting the dogs ready for walks on rainy days. The gorgeous kitchen is what sold us on the house, with the gas stove, butcher block counters, and lots of space for entertaining. We made the back room into what we call the “jazz room” to play records and chill out, but you can do whatever you want – we also used it as a dining room for bigger hosting occasions. The backyard is AMAZING in the summer. It truly feels like a bit of cottage country with the greenery and chirping birds in the canopy of trees, and there’s lots of space for BBQing and playing. It’s a great place to start your day with a morning coffee. We hope you love this home as much as we do.
